St Neot Parish Plan

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING AND ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

You are invited to attend a public meeting on Friday 4th April at 7:30pm in St Neot Village Hall to discuss the Cott Yard project.  The Parish Council is seeking your views and ideas for the barns and for future fundraising events to enable your ideas to be put into action.  This is your chance to be involved right from the beginning in this very exciting project for St Neot.  If you have any queries or questions prior to the meeting, please contact the Parish Clerk, Mrs Sue Blaxley, on 01579 326053.

Following this meeting, the annual parish meeting will take place when the Chairman of the Parish Council will report on the business of the Parish Council during 2007/2008 and representatives from local organisations will report on their year.

An Orchard for St Neot.

We’re delighted to report that Marvin Chapman of Tremeran has offered some land for an orchard.
There are lots of details to be decided, such as which varieties to plant, where to get them, how to manage the orchard etc. etc.
We invite anyone interested in any way to attend a meeting in the Committee Room on Wednesday 23rd April at 7:30pm.

Viewing the Choughs at The Lizard

As reported last month, a group of us are going to view the Choughs at The Lizard – the RSPB expects them to nest there again, although this cannot be guaranteed!!  There is a viewpoint, telescope etc set up there.  We will go on the 20th May, leaving St Neot at about 10am.  There are facilities nearby our destination where we can get coffee, pasties etc. (they do take advance orders for pasties) – or we may decide to picnic – to be discussed when the group has formed.

Do let me know by phone message or email if you would like to go?  Jenny Hart – 01579 320683 or nickandjennyhart@hotmail.co.uk

Military Whilst Drives

These monthly drives seem to be very popular with people coming from many places to join our fun evenings which benefits the elderly and the children of our village by the monies we can donate to them. This year we have passed over £900.00 to various organisations such as the school, playgroup, scouts, age concern/welcome club etc. Come and join our fun evenings –teams of four whist players –cards with a difference!

St Neot Ramblers

met on February 16th for a pub lunch at Trebarwith Strand followed by a walk from Trebarwith to Tintagel and back. It was a lovely day, and we all felt very privileged to live in such a beautiful part of the country as we walked the coast path & looked at the amazing blue sea with white breakers and the grey slate cliffs .At Tintagel a few walkers decided to have a cream tea instead of doing the walk back.. The whole purpose of the St Neot Ramblers is enjoyment -- we don't go in for route marching!

Next month Jenny Gander is taking us on a local walk from St Neot to Halfway House & back through Tredinnick, so why not join us on March 30th, meeting at 2pm in the Village car park. Please wear suitable footwear & clothing. This walk is a bit hilly!

Sally Alison Bradner

I would just like to say thank you; on behalf of  David, Michael, and myself and all our family, for  the kindness, love, friendship and generosity you have all shown, before, during and after Sally’s illness, which resulted in her death.

A great number of people came to Sally’s funeral service to pay their respects to Sally and support to my family. This is something I shall never forget.

Prior to her death Sally was quite adamant that she did not want flowers but if people wanted to they could donate money to two causes: ‘Breast Cancer Relief’ and ‘The Jubilee Sailing Trust’. Both of which were very close to Sally’s heart. The total amount of money collected came to 1225.16. So both of the above charities will receive £612.58.

The ‘Jubilee Sailing Trust’ is going to supply me with a list of items they would like to purchase. I will then discuss this with my family and let the trust know our decision.

With all our love Douglas Bradner and family.

Church Women's Fellowship

On Wednesday April 23rd members will have an afternoon outing to the Pine Lodge Gardens near St Austell, leaving the car park at 1:30pm. Any lady wishing to join the group would be most welcome. Please speak with Bridget Kent.

April

April, the very word conjures up brightness and gathering warmth; there is a sweetness about it, even if there may be April showers. But then, where would we be in Cornwall without plentiful rainfall? Cornwall without rain would soon turn into a granite desert. And all around us in April there is the sense of growth, of new life bursting out. It is a glorious time of the year and no one should be so busy or so pre-occupied as to let it pass by unnoticed. This is when we must allow ourselves just to stop, to pause and to wonder at the miracle of life.

When a child is born, for all the pain and travail that may accompany the birth, the parents glow with joy. Perhaps you have been there too and have experienced for yourself that sudden amazement that here before your eyes is a whole new world, a miraculous new beginning, full of hope. No one can predict what this scrap of a being may become; everyone longs that they may know happiness and bring contentment to others. And, every new birth adds to our community’s strength and provides for the future.

So, it is good to give thanks to God when a child is born, either by way of a christening service or by having a service of thanksgiving. These services are never charged for – they are free. It is the Church’s joy to provide for them. When we are surrounded by God’s mercy and grace, it is right that we should give thanks and praise.

Andrew
