ST NEOT PRIMARY SCHOOL - OUTSTANDING IN EVERY AREA!
Ofsted has awarded St Neot Primary School outstanding grades in all four areas of inspection, moving the school to the top possible classification. Previously the school had received special recognition of very high National Test results in 2013 from David Laws, Minister of State for Schools. This placed the school in the top 1% of all primary school and academies in England.
Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, said the inspection was ‘absolutely brilliant’ while Alastair Cuthbert, Chair of Governors said, ‘We are really pleased that the sustained hard work and team effort of all staff, parents and importantly, the children, has been recognised in this way. I am particularly pleased that David Collins’ leadership has been highlighted’.
David Collins, Headteacher, said he was delighted with the result and especially ‘the recognition of teamwork and collaboration in achieving such high standards. The children say they learn something new every day and the inspector found their attitudes to work to be exemplary’.
The report also comments on the very strong reading culture in the school and states that the pupils’ achievement in mathematics is outstanding. The very positive start the children enjoy in their early years is also identified.
The children celebrated this extraordinary report during an assembly. They said ‘the teachers are awesome and we think the school is brilliant’, ‘St Neot is a friendly school’, and ‘the school was outstanding before we got a report’.
Parents said, ‘A merit well deserved’, ‘I find the school supports my child’s learning and I know I can always talk to a member of staff if I have any problems. If feel proud that my children are coming to this school’, and ‘I am so glad that the pupils and teachers at St Neot School have at last been recognised as outstanding’.
